Work performed

  • Initial technological research and pictorial layer stratigraphy
  • Dry surface cleaning
  • Removal of darkened varnish and local old retouches and overpainting
  • Removal of the gilt leather from the old support
  • Application of strip-lining
  • Stretching the Cordovan onto a new aluminum (honey-comb) support using so-called Dutch tensioning
  • Retouching of the Cordovan gilding (mica pigments, loose pigments, Aquazol® in ethanol)
  • Retouching of the paint layer and local reconstructions of the painted motif (pigments, Aquazol® in ethanol)
  • Final varnish Paraloid® B72
  • Installation of elements in situ
