- Initial technological research and preparation of the conservation project
- Local consolidation of the pictorial layer
- Surface cleaning dry and then aqueous using surfactants and chelating agents
- Removal of degraded, oxidised varnish
- Removal of the painting from the old, rigid strainer
- Removal of support deformations
- Application of strip-lining (Beva® 371 film)
- Stretching the painting onto a new, movable stretcher
- Filling the ground layer with chalk-glue studio fillers
- Initial retouching with Schmincke® Horadam watercolours
- Final retouching with Gamblin® Conservation Colors
- Intermediate and final varnish Regalrez® 1094
- Installation of acid-free backing board
