• Initial technological research and preparation of the conservation project
• Consolidation of the pictorial layer
• Surface cleaning dry and then wet using surfactants and chelates
• Local removal of darkened varnish
• Removal of the painting from the old rigid strainer
• Thread-to-thread tear mending in canvas
• Insertion of prostheses in place of support losses
• Removal of support deformations
• Application of strip-lining (Beva® 371)
• Stretching the painting onto a new movable stretcher
• Further filling of smaller canvas support losses using fiber pulp
• Filling the ground layer with glue-chalk studio filler
• Initial retouching with Schmincke Horadam watercolors
• Final retouching with Gamblin® Conservation Colors
