- Initial technological research and preparation of the conservation project
- Consolidation of the pictorial layer
- Surface cleaning dry and then wet using surfactants and chelates
- Local removal of darkened varnish
- Removal of the painting from the old rigid strainer
- Thread-to-thread tear mending in canvas
- Insertion of prostheses in place of support losses
- Removal of support deformations
- Application of strip-lining (Beva® 371)
- Stretching the painting onto a new movable stretcher
- Further filling of smaller canvas support losses using fiber pulp
- Filling the ground layer with glue-chalk studio filler
- Initial retouching with Schmincke Horadam watercolors
- Final retouching with Gamblin® Conservation Colors
